"Blue Lady"
• This is a nice homage to Matisse's girl with the green eyes; i like
the color scheme you have: blue period Picasso; and then there's the Edvard Munch influence as well; the color captures her mood which is not exactly morose but is at least distant and despairing - as with the other image, the forms are simplified, as if you're expressing something general and universal. • the eyes are the most expressive of all; is she in mid-blink? is she glowering? as with the prior image, we don't know what's in or on her mind and thus it makes us want to keep looking. her eyes also are not a little intimidating.
• the swirls of the dress and hat match the curves of her hair: you have a
good sense of composition;
• a good sense of space, too: you've got her crammed into the front of
the picture plane so our attention is focused entirely on her face, which is One Big Enigma.
• the picture looks like something out a dream; everything is vague
and indeterminate.
General
• i think you have a very keen sense of color and composition. i think your
theme, from what i can gather from two images, is how little we know of life and of ourselves. i think your take on this theme is we can be stylish and well off (like the woman) or hip and determined (like the survivors).
• these are impressions taken from images. i can only imagine what they look like in person.
